How to Submit a Case
If you have an interesting case with solid IVFA images, please consider submitting for case-based interactive practice on our website. As EyeLearnIVFA is a Canadian website with Canadian copyright and ethics reviews, we will only be accepting cases from Canadian institutions and authors at this time.
Submit a case through our online form.
Requirements:
All case submissions require written patient consent obtained before submitting the cases to our website team allowing sharing of case details and case images for medical education purposes. It is the submitting authors responsiblity to keep a record of the written consent so long as the case is displayed on this website.
Any submitted data (images and text) to EyeLearnIVFA must be completely de-identified.
We ask that demographics be slightly modified including age, ethnicity (if important to the case), gender and presentation. Modifications should be done such that exact case details are not shared, but the adjustments made will still make sense with the epidemiology and disease process. This is to augment confidentiality.
All images must be submitted in the highest quality possible, with the time stamp included for IVFA images.
Please strive to include all phases of IVFA images. Please include contralateral eyes as well for comparison, or evidence of pathology.
All communication (suggested edits etc.) will be done through the submitting email. This email will be the assumed corresponding editor.
Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in the rejection and deletion of the case submission.
Review Process
All cases will be reviewed based on novelty, merit, and educational quality. Our review process involves first, a read-through by the core website team to ensure that the case is novel, and does not already exist within our database. This is done to avoid redundancies in our educational content. Once deemed of educational value to our database, the case submission will be reviewed by our team for analysis of content with suggestions made back to the reviewer team. It will go through an analysis by our website team first, and then sent to our submitting team for edits. The polished case submission will then be submitted to one of the ophthalmology staff reviewers for evaluation of merit, content and educational quality. Similarly, the piece will be returned to the team for revisions and resubmission. The piece will be re-read by the assigned staff ophthalmologist editor for final approval prior to publication on the website.
Feedback
If you have any input, ideas or feedback as to how we can improve our medical education resource, please feel free to email us. We are open to revision and iterations of our resource, to help improve the learner’s experience.
